Have you ever felt, deep in your soul, that God has more for you—but you don’t know what it is or how it’s going to unfold? Maybe He’s given you a vision for your life, yet you have no clue how you’re supposed to get there. Or maybe you sense He’s doing something in the Spirit, but you can’t quite put your finger on it.

If I’m honest, this past year has felt like a tug-of-war with God. As my inner being has been renewed, I’ve longed for more of Him—yet my circumstances didn’t seem to align with what He was stirring in me. Again and again, I brought this tension to Him in the secret place, holding Him to His word. And every time, He would gently affirm me:
“Yes, I am doing a new thing—but not yet.”
“Remember, I love you.”

I got so tired of hearing “not yet.” But in His kindness, God kept giving me little glimpses—never more than I needed. He delights in our curiosity, but He won’t let us outrun Him. I know all too well what it’s like to strive, to try to control, to cling to my own understanding. And this—right here—is where faith becomes everything.

Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). Hebrews 11 has anchored me in this season. It’s felt like returning to the basics of Christianity: faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love. I was humbled when I realized I knew these truths mentally, but God was inviting me to understand them experientially. Thank God we never graduate from the revelation of His love.

“Walk by faith, not by sight.”
Looks really good on a coffee cup, but what does that actually look like? I have found it to be incredibly vulnerable but worth it every time.

If you’re anything like me—someone who has asked God for a life that is anything but boring—He will absolutely answer that prayer. Believe what you’re asking for. Rest confidently in the fact that He hears, and He responds.

Let me encourage you: YOU DO HEAR GOD.
You’re not crazy. That tug in your spirit—that gut feeling—that’s the Holy Spirit. Trust Him to guide your steps… but you have to be willing to step out in faith. Fear isolates. Faith motivates. Don’t confuse the two.

Faith moves the heart of God. Just look at the heroes of faith in Hebrews 11. Abraham’s faith was counted to him as righteousness. Jesus healed people because of their faith—and there were places He didn’t perform miracles because of their lack of it.

“And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.”
—Hebrews 11:6

“Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God.
—James 2:23

We serve a God who delights in rewarding His children, who gives good and perfect gifts, who honors faith. Nothing we do unto Him is ever in vain. Personally, I want to be known as a friend of God.

It really is that simple: have faith.
Have faith for what you cannot see—otherwise, it isn’t faith. Have faith in the areas where you’ve yet to see God move. The Bible says to take him at his word; therefore, we can have the faith that he will do it! In the midst of it, we do have to ground ourselves in the truth that reward is always Him. He sustains us, fulfills us, and transforms us to the image of his likeness, from degree of glory to the next.

So run the race—wholeheartedly, unashamedly, wildly free, and madly in love with Him. Let Him cultivate faith, hope, and love in every part of you.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith who, for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
—Hebrews 12:1–2
